    Parallel to Serial/USB converter

    Hello,

I appreciate if you guys can help me clarifying the proper setup for my proposed development project that may be using parallel to serial/usb converter.

Please see this image before I explain further.

Basically, what it does, the PC/server will tap the printing data from the legacy system. Since, parallel comm is not symmetrical like serial is, and the PC has no parallel port, so I thought a converter will do just fine.

I believe that the normal Parallel-usb converter (the one that people use to connect from parallel machine to usb printer) won't work in this setup. correct me if I'm wrong.

I have come across products like this:
    http://www.telebyteusa .com/catalog/products/109A.htm
    http://www.bb-elec.com/product.asp?SKU =232SPS2

which has hardware handshaking and flow control...

but I am unsure it really works for my project setup.

Thanks for those who tries to help and give some enlightenment to me...
Working...
