How to find a business partner for software project

Hey Guys - My name is Lionel and I have this great idea for an online service. Based on my research, I've reached the conclusion that I need a good software developer as a business partner. My strengths are business operations and implementing the company's vision but I have absolutely no clue in terms of software development, testing, or coding. I don’t even know where to begin. And from an application software perspective, I have no idea of what strategies to implement with respect to my business idea and how I would like the site to perform. That wouldn't be much of a problem if my partner was the expertise in this area but the real problem is locating a developer who is good at what they do and who I can trust to be my partner!! Please help!!! Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks – Lionel

It would be wiser for you to network in person with developers. There are plenty of developer trade shows you can attend.

Software development is not easy and to find a software developer for a startup won't be easy. Real talent costs money and very few people will jump in just for a stake in a company.

In the early stages if all you have is an idea, expect to give up 50% or greater to the talent or pay up front for their services at a lower than market price and a lower stake.

    Good luck with your venture.

PS most people are very skeptical of someone offering a partnership for an idea, even more skeptical in a community where you haven't been involved in.
