NT 4.0 (set up correctly) has it ever been hacked from the outside.
I do NOT mean from someone in the office with direct access to it. I mean from an outside line, hard-wired or wireless.
Some time has passed.
Over the years a lot of advertising has proclaimed vaguely that anything less than the latest operating system by Microsoft is in danger of something.
I know of Windows NT 4.0 business servers being so secure that the installer pre-tested them by aggressively advertising to hackers that the hackers were to stupid (and maybe brain-dead) to be able to hack the servers. Those challenges were very insulting to hackers and tried to get them to collectively attempt to hack the systems. I recall seeing those servers and seeing responses to those challenges where the hackers literally asked for accounts on those servers because they wanted their own stuff to be secure. Interesting response. It was reported by hackers that no one that they knew or contacted to help hack those serves ever succeeded. But the question is about NT 4.0, if it is set up correctly, being hacked.
I have never heard of it being hacked from the internet. If you know of it being hacked, and I mean a server that is set up correctly, then please report that here. And, please, no "everybody knows" kind of answers that proclaim vague supposed facts.
OK ? Has it ever happened that you exactly know of?
If no one supplies verifiable facts of such a hack then you should add this operating system to your long list of "Microsoft lied again" about older systems being insecure.
It was a powerful system back then and it still is.
