    who to thank for the new RST doc format?

    I am really loving the output, and have started using RST for some
    of my own docs as well.

    It's wonderful and I know it was a lot of work on somebody's part
    to think it through and make the changes.

      David Goodget was the champion of RST itself.
      When plaintext hasn’t been expressive enough for inline documentation, Python programmers have sought out a format for docstrings. This PEP proposes that the reStructuredText markup be adopted as a standard markup format for structured plaintext docume...

      Georg Brandl pushed its use for Python docs with Sphinx.
      Benjamin Peterson has done many of the actual changes, often within a
      day after a suggestion is posted.
