How to both name and $_GET variables in a URL?

I want to link to a page and I need to link to a specific point in the page using

<a name="[I]...[/I]">

but I also need to pass some GET varibales to the page. Do I put the #name before or after the GET variables?

Thanks. I did try it and couldn't get it work which I why I came here. I always spend a good deal of time trying myself first and only come here when I can't get it to work and Google doesn't seem to have the answers.
