    Forgot Password Script Help

Hiya guys, I am a basic php programmer, I'm currently doing a forgotten password feature for a project and only started working on it last night. I was succuessful to set up a form and a database to test out checking the email in the database to then send a password to the user email account however it is currently sending nothing to them. Any help/tips would be greatly apprecated.

    Hey.

We would need to see the code that is causing the problem to be help you figure this out.
Also, make sure you have the error messages turned on and post them here as well, if any.

Just a tip on this, I would advise you to use one of the built in encryption methods in PHP like sha or md5 when storing the password in the database and instead of retrieving a password from the database and sending it to the client I would send a password change email so you can reduce the chance of passwords being intercepted and it helps with security in general.

Hiya guys, sorry on late reply I have just been busy. For the moment the code I am using is off http://www.phpeasystep.com/phptu/21.html The only changes I had made to it is the connection details e.g local host etc, For adding some encryption methods I was planning on doing so if I had the time but I only have a day or so to get this done so I was just wanting to get a working feature done first and if any time I would add some to it. At all will I need a mail server to send the email? Going to see a group member next week who said he had one for something else and was planning on to help me get it working.

Thanks for your help and advice.
