Cannot load mysql extension. Please check your PHP configuration. - Documentation

    Hey all,

I just uninstalled appserv and downloaded XAMPP-win32-1.6.8.zip to use on a mail server task on windows XP.

After the installation, it would not let me turn on localhost/phpMyAdmin. I checked out the documentation and loaded php and mysql separately and extracted them inside XAMPP folder (even though XAMPP already has mysql and php). The same problem still arises.

Another problem is that once I turn on to page http://localhost/security/index.php,
the following text is printed out:

    XAMPP SECURITY [Security Check 1.0]
This page gives you a quick overview about the security status of your XAMPP installation. (Please continue reading after the table.)

    Subject
    Status

These XAMPP pages are accessible by network for everyone UNSECURE
Every XAMPP demo page you are right now looking at is accessible for everyone over network. Everyone who knows your IP address can see these pages.

Could any of you help me figure out how to fix this?
    Thank you

.But have you stated Apache server and MySql in XAMPP control panel?
