What are you converting the spreadsheet to and what do you want to lookup?

Lookup is part of formula used on spreadsheet logic.

Spreadsheet is a small software piece and grown mothan 100MB of data
in one .xls file. Now data from this file need bem posted on web and
      Lookup is used.

We know what a spreadsheet is, and what a lookup function is.

The question is - what are YOU converting the spreadsheet to? Web
servers don't recognize spreadsheet data. Neither does PHP.

And What do YOU want to look up in that data?

Also, if you have 100MB of data, chances are you want a database.\

I use a on-line version of spreadsheet "program" using PHP arrays to
simulate cells and MySQL database to store retrieve data. But I look
for also in PHP similar to Lookup().

          Thanks for you help!

Lookup is effectively the equivalent of using an SQL query to find a
record of information using a key field.

I really wouldn't try to mimic the spreadsheet in php/mysql. It will
be much more efficient to look at what the aim of the spreadsheet is
and to re-write that properly as a php/mysql application.

Either way, your equivalent of LOOKUP is a basic SQL SELECT statement.

Somewhere just recently I came across a php class that operated as a
total "in memory" spreadsheet, complete with formulas. I'll try to
            find it for you later.
