Connecting to an Informix DB using ADOdb

Hi,
I would like to connect to an informix DB using adodb.
At the moment I connect through odbc under window, but I would like to be able to connect under linux as well.
Also do I need any additional software to do it (e.g. informix sdk) or the support is built into adodb/php?
