    I need a subdomain service like kickme.to

I want to give users of my site the option to register for a subdomain
redirection service. I scanned the Internet for some script, but
didn't really find anything that works. Tried the PHP script from
http://opendomains.vnn.bz/ and many others. So now I want to ask you
if you know of any script in PHP, Perl, Phyton that can accomplish
    this task?

Cant be that hard .. Google for apache mod_rewrite

    1. Use mod rewrite to rewrite any subdomain (except www/your_own etc) to
    redirect.php?do main=$1
    2. Check the domain and redirect :-)

Will that help you or do you need some code ?

      0. Set up a wildcard DNS entry to point anything.exampl e.com to your
      server.

I've allready set up a wildcard DNS entry, now I just need some code.
I am not comfortable with programming so I would need a script whitch
does the job for me. Does anyone know about one that works?

If I understand your requirements correctly, all you need to do is set-up
virtual hosts in your httpd.conf file in Apache.

You can use PHP to write to this file.

Also check the newsgroup alt.apache.conf iguration

          Cheers

I'm not a programmer. So I don't know where to start. I just though
since it is such a simple task, there must be a script out there witch
can handle virtual hosts. In addition it should be possible to sign up
            and manage ones sub domain.

            regards,
            stiv

No -- at most two virtual hosts should be set up in Apache for this
application -- one for the main website of the service, the other to
              handle *all* the subdomains.

But I have no programming experience. So I only partially understand
                what you are talking about.

Does somebody know about a open-source script witch I can download?

No, and since you have no programming experience you probably wont get
                  it to work either.

I wouldn't recommend doing this if you dont know what is going on.
People could (will) abuse such a script if it's not done properly.

For instance I could create lots of subdomains with random content and
link it to a site selling v-i-a-g-r-a and other yummies. You would get
kicked out of all the search enigines indexes and I would sell lotsa
                  v-i-a-g-r-a :-)

Read about apache, subdomains, mod_rewrite and read a tutorial about
php. Then decide (with the new knowledge) how you are gonna set this up
because there are some choices to be made.

Once you have done that I'd be happy to help with your code.
