php and shoutcast

Been working on getting a php script working for displaying shoutcast stream
status on a web page.

1) I am using musicticker php script. (
http://www.kription.com/scxml/recent.html )

2) fsockopen is NOT disabled, which is a common problem if ti is disabled.

the script continually shows the server as down, even tho I know its not
while I test.

any input would be appreciated.
