flipping through a book at my bookstore something along the lines of
"Wicked cool Perl scripts". Its general structure was to devote each
chapter to a commonly used script, go through it to explain what it
does, then showcase some extensions you could do to it to make it even
better. I know you're probably looking more for PHP than Perl, but it
could be worth a look to find the publisher of that book and see if
they've made a PHP version.
