    on line store solution

    I've been looking for "open-source-on-line-stores-php-apache-mysql
powered solutions", and I found mainly two:

    osCommerce
    Zencart

I'm just beginning so I've to choose one of them to give it a try...
Which one you would opt for?

    regards - julian

Go with oscommerce, i had only great experiences with it!
It's very customizable, has a lot of premade modules that are free,
and a great flexibility in dealing payments

sorry to go against the flow, but I have to recommend AGAINST osC. The
code tree just seems very inefficient to me. They require
register_globas = On (Ick); there's way too much embedded HTML, and I
        remember numerous redundant directories/files. The
flexibility/modulizing is a little overrated, IMO. Good, important mods
like CCGV require a Lot of work to implement. And god help you if you
want to write some custom code to drop in.

Zencart is just a fork (a somewhat-cleaner fork) of osC. Look at xCart
maybe -- I installed that once and liked the very little I did with it.
        But I don't think there's a "great" out-of-the-box solution anywhere yet.
