call MATLab program from Perl

Sir,
I'm a M. E (comuter Science and Engineering) Student and now i'm doing my project in Bioinformatics. I'm new to perl & MATLab. I've written the code for neural network simulation in MATLab. Now I have to read a list of files from a directory and the every files should be passed to the neural network for recognition and reading form the directory is written in Perl. Now can i give the files read using perl as input to the created nerual network written in MATLab. Please help me... If so give me the guide lines.

Well, that depends. I unfortunately do not know anything about MATLab, so I cannot relate to it, but if it is something that you would run from the command line, then you could certainly write a Perl script that would call that command and then pass an argument to it (the argument being the file name.

If that is the case, then you would need to obtain a list of the files to be fed to the command, then start a loop that would cycle through that list, feeding one file at a time to the command.

Also, if you wanted to check, there seem to be a number of MATLab CPAN modules out there. Didn't know if any of them would do what you want.
