    what is SQL*Net

    Hallo,

    what is SQL*Net and what is it's function?

    Is it part of Oracle Net Services?

    Couldn't find a description in the Oracle Documentation!!

    Oracle has changed the name of its communication software numerous
    times. When I started administering Oracle (about 15 years ago), it
    was called SQL*NET, it then went to NET8 and then Oracle Net. I think
    I missed a name or two in there too, I still have a bad habit of
    calling it SQL*NET myself. Just diff't names for Oracle's
    communication software over the years.

      Axel, Oracle has several volumes on the ORANET (NET8, SQLNET) service.
      On version 9 look for the Net Services Administrator's Guide and Net
      Services Reference Guide.

      When a newsgroup has sub-groups you should should generally post to
      the sub-groups and not the group.
