A couple of months ago I found a Note: on MetaLink
which detailed how to use OID to serve DB names.
I was going from TNSNAMES.ORA files to OID, but
it did work. However I never actually implemented
    this "solution".

Re: OID configuration for replacing Oracle Names

I have generated a ldif format file from namesctl dump_ldap utility.
But when I tried to load it in OID using ldapadd utility - it gives
error " Object does not exist".

I have not created any subtree entries under OracleContext using
oidadmin. I'm trying to load the entries directly under OracleContext.
Since all the entries exist under single domain in Oracle Names.

If anybody has done this before then it will be a great help if i can
    share your experience.

    Thanks

I have. Set me an email with your real mail address.
Send the email to my full name below, spaces replaced with
dots, at interaccess dot nl, and I'll send you a word
document describing the installation of the ldap server,
configuration of it, and the migration of tnsnames to ldap,
as well as the adjustments to sqlnet.ora
(I get spam enough as it is)

        Hi Frank,

Can you send me that word document describing the installation of the
ldap server, etc.? I am working on it.

        My email: ana@semicrol.es

        Thanks in advance,

Now if you think I'm going to spell out my email address,
you're wrong. Which part above isn't clear?

BTW - it's in Dutch, but has lots of pictures - it was for
          management ;-)
And just to make it clear: it handles tnsname to ldap,
          not onames to ldap.

Re: OID configuration for replacing Oracle Names

            Ana,

Now I have installed and configured the OID successfully. Now I'm
at the point of loading data from Oracle names repository to OID. I
have only one domain in Oracle Names Repository so i did not create
any domian entries under OracleContext. However now I'm hiting a bug
that when I create the ldif file using

            namesctl dump_ldap -x -f test.ldif

It creates the ldif file but with extra DC on most of the enteries.
This extra DC has special characters in its values.

Any Idea what you did to pass this hurdle.

            Thanks for your help...
