How to make an application look busy?

    Hi all,

Is there a way or method wherein I can make my windows application busy as long as a method on a separate thread is executing without interrupting the running thread?

For example, when I execute a method on a separate thread (not on the UI thread) which takes around 10 seconds to complete; it is in this interim that I would want my application to be busy as though the method was called from the UI thread.

Though I achieved it by changing the cursor to a busy cursor for the duration of the method that is executing but that's superficial - in the sense that the user would still be able to interact with the form by clicking on the buttons, or by entering some text into the textbox.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Regards,

Why don't you just disable the controls while the application is "busy"? There is an enabled property on the base control class. Just set this to false and then when you are done set it back to true.

Thanks for your quick reply - that's a great idea to solve this problem! But was just wondering if there is any alternative or a way wherein we could make the application look busy.

      Many thanks.
