Where is firefoxs Cache ? :o

    Hi,

I just got stuck when i moved into deleting firefox cache files - but i've going through my entire C:\ drive and also the exact path where firefox is installed at (C:\program files\firefox\) but firefox has no cache, history or cookie files there :o

can some one tell me where FireFox stores all this data, and i how can i access firefox properties in vb.net like Internet explorers - for example i can get IE cache path and cookie path using a line of code in VB.net but it isn't the same for Firefox :(

Can some one help me on this matter :(
i also tried googling but theres nothing relevant to my search :(

    Regards

firefox keeps all of that in a database.

    Check in:
    C:\documents and Settings\CURREN TUSERNAME\appli cation Data\mozilla\Fi refox\Profiles\ PROFILENAME\

You will see various DAT files and sqllite files.

OK, Firefox doesn't handle the cache the way that IE does. It doesn't save the cached files as files that you can open and view.

You can view the cache inside firefox by browsing here:
      about:cache?device=disk

And the windows path would be:
      {driveletter}:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Local Settings\Applic ation Data\Mozilla\Fi refox\Profiles\{profile}\Cache

      {driveletter} = usually C
      {username} = windows username
{profile} = random string, just browse to the parent folder and there should be a subfolder. that's the profile name.

      Just to be clear
I have no idea what will happen if you delete these files. I haven't tried, and I don't want to. I do know that firefox behaves differently than IE, so what works for one may not work for all.

        Great, Thank you.

I found those files - but how can one access these files in VB.net :(

Is there a way i can clear these stuff like for Internet Explorer - there seems be not a single tutorial - i was barely able to find one which only explained how to find if Firefox is installed or not :(

i am pretty confused about this and would appreciate your feedback

        Thanks in advance
        Regards

          Code:
          The cache is disabled.

Well, you won't be able to "access" these files, if you mean read from them and figure out what's in them, because they are encoded in a format that firefox uses, not in standard files like IE uses.

You can try to delete them manually and programatically , but I make no promises about what will happen.

If you want to do it from firefox, you can go to Tools->Options->Privacy, and at the bottom of the tab, you will see "Settings" and "Clear Now." Go to settings and set what you want deleted, and click "Clear Now."

            Good Luck.

              Thanks for the help

darn it, this is so confusing :(

i tried deleting my files of firefox :D but up until now i only deleted the history and cookies files and it seems that firefox automatically creates them if they are not to be found in the folder and i also noticed the cache is stored in a different directory to be precise its:- "C:\Documen ts and Settings\Admin\ Local Settings\Applic ation Data\Mozilla\Fi refox\Profiles\ ProfileNameHere .default\Cache"

i haven't tried deleting them yet, but will later on.
Now i want to figue out how to find which profile is currently in use - that firefox is using :o theres a .INF file where the profiles directory reside but i'm not sure how to determine which is the default - can somebody help me with me with the code for this please :( to determine which profile is currently in use i'll try to figure out the rest

              Thanks in advance
              Regards

I don't have the /cache directory (or even a file name called just that) in any of my directories.

It DID occur to me that I think FF has some API that allows you to query various things. You might be able to find something by digging into that.
