VB.NET Active Directory(Round 2) Better information this time

Ok I am sorta new to .NET Web programming and not so much Form Applications. I know how to get the Active Directory and Display it in a form. But for the life of me I can't find any code that shows me a universal way to reference it on the net from a local intranet. I have gone to every source and every book and they all tell me how it works(I know that realy well by now) and how to create and delete attributes but none of them tell me how to reference the AD and read it's attributes into a Label.Text = ("") and the previous programmer did it in C#. I used a converter and got no where because I can't access the ASP.NET pages due to something that isn't configured correctly on my local machine in the page.master and IIS6. I'm lost beaten up and tired of going round and round for weeks. Now down to what I am asking of you guys.

A universal way to find the ldap or ad that will help me connect to it and read the attributes. If there is no universal way show me an explanation of why(link or article or your own answer is fine).

Then tell me where to go and what to look for on google. I have literaly been everywhere on the net and not found my exact answer due to my uinque situation.

The System.Director yServices namespace was not helpful?
When a user requests a page, your server code makes the request for the information from the activedirectory . Then you return the correct information

Ok as a favor I am pleading. May I please have a snippet of code that shows how to pul an attribute from a AD universally. That would be awesome just so I can get an idea what path I need to be doing. If you could I will worship you and cook you brownies.

If you get brownies in the mail don't eat them because I didn't send them.
