count the number of records - stored procedure

I have a table called 'Animals' in a mysql database.
The columns / fields are:
'name'
'animal'
'year born'

I am having problems creating a stored procedure called 'animalscount_s p'.

The stored procedure is meant to count the number of records in the 'Animals' table
