If I hit my phone lightly, the whole screen turns black. A lot of times it turns black for no reason at all, even during a phone call. When this happens no buttons or anything I do gets any reaction from the phone-it looks off, until i restart it.

While not a phone, I have some handheld lab equipment that did this... turns out that in one case the connection on the board between the battery and board was bad. In the other case, the touch screen interface connection was damaged... these are quite small and easily damaged by heat during production. Both times required a new board/rebuild.
I suspect you are having the same issue.
