I need to recover the password for a/c. “smtp.gmail.com :-foo-@gmail.com”. Tried using my gmail a/c. password but was rejected. Thanks

Sir,
I use an iMac OSX
When I try to open Mail, I get the prompt to enter the password for "smtp.gmail .-foo-@gmail.com" *which I do not have.*I tried my Gmail password but it was rejected.
Please advise how I can get this password....or alternatively, what I should do.
