Why does SSH login take so long to authenticate?

Recently few servers that I maintain for clients are taking a long time to authenticate when I try to SSH into them.

Does anyone have any reason why this is happening? and is there a fix?

Solved this problem by making sure that the DNS had proper nameservers.

edit the file

/etc/resolv.conf

and add the proper name servers to for example:

nameserver 76.96.54.12 
nameserver 76.96.54.13

Save and restart
