Google! Start with a list of basic Linux commands. Heck, there are plenty of Linux tutorials out there. Plus download a live version (bootable cd distribution that runs in memory) and practice with it.

      Hello,

To start with, here is a good linux tutuorial. And as numberwhun said, learning and practising Linux using a Live CD is a very good option for newbies. I will personally recommend using SLAX Live CD (although you may choose any other linux distro).

Welcome to bytes.com and Linux community! :)

Also, I wrote a quite extensive article here which should help you find yourself around a bit.

If you've decided on the distribution you want, we can help you find specific help for that (or just search with Google - that should give you quite a few results).

        Greetings,
        Nepomuk
