Where exactly are you having problems? Is it the "compile in Linux" or the "using Sockets" or the "compile C" or something else?
In general, you'll want to use g++ to compile C. Check the man page.

      Hello,
By default "gcc" or "cc" compiler could compile socket program, with out any compilation and linking attributes( eg $gcc "file_name" ). If at all the gcc is not working by defult, there might be something else went wrong. So if you send me the error what your are getting i could help you more.
      Regards
