Need a counter on webpage that I can control

I would like to put a counter on a webpage that will display a specific number and have the ability to increment the number manually.

    Thank you in advance,

    Gordon

is this counter client specific or should it be a "global" counter?

This counter will be displayed on the webpage and will not change unless I change the number and update the page.

It will be separate from a hit counter for the website.

Thank you in advance for your help.

you can put that number in a text file and save it. for updating you would need a separate page (with a form) that updated this text file.

Thank you for your quick reply.
Can you help with the javascript for the webpage to display the counter?

If the number is in a text file, can I just update the text file with a new number with an editor and ftp to the website?

          Thank you in advance,

          Gordon

since the counter is not client-specific (presumably), you have to do all that on the server.

              Yes, that's right.

              Can you supply the code?

What he means is that this forum is not a code writing service. We are mainly here to help you trouble shoot your code and offer suggestions / advice. If you post what code you have tried and offer a description of the errors you're getting, we can help. But an out right request to do your work for you is not something most of the volunteers have the time nor inclination to do.

If you have no idea where to begin, then it sounds like you need a basic understanding of code. And that is better accomplished with a tutorial then a forum.

What is the logic for incrementing the no.

Could you please provide the code that you tried.?
