How to hide the status bar..?

Is there a way to completely hide status bar? I
have a html program that streams the video from a camera,so
the status bar always says "transferin g data from..." It gets quite annoying, so I was wondering if there was any way to stop the status
bar from displaying this message. If I can't hide it, it would be nice
if I could get the status bar to say "Done".

if it's a popup window you might have luck with setting the status option during the window.open() operation.

if its the main browser window you could try to set the window.status property

-> but for obvious security reasons (like URL-spoofing etc.) some browsers might block/ignore this ... (both of the mentioned possibilities)
