How do I force an HTML table to be an exact multiple of n pixels wide?

I want a table to be approximately 90% the width of the browser window, but to be an exact multiple of n pixels (in this case 22) wide and high, so that the tiled background image isn't truncated. I can get the values from document.getEle mentById, but just can't seem to manipulate them correctly...

can't you apply the background image to the table element?

Yes I could, but that won't solve the problem of keeping the table in proportion to the window width.
