How to make a user listen only the first 30sec of an audio file?

I have a link to .mp3 file is it possible when the user click it to hear only the first 30sec of it?
(Wasn't sure where to put this post, here seemed more appropriate)

Why not modify the file to 30 seconds length?

What are you using to play the file?

another possibility would be a timeout to call a function that just stops the playback ...

the thing is that I have about a 100 mp3s,wmv etc. The best solution is indeed to create trimmed versions of them but to do the procedure 100 times is hard. Anyone know of a program for mass modification of audio files?

There should hopefully be plenty if you search, for example, for "split audio files".

If you can't find one that suits your needs, you could try the timeout option suggested by gits.
