Is it mandatory to set JAVA_HOME in system variables while installing java

JAVA_HOME for Tomcat web server. It is used to tell web server in which directory our jdk file reside. No need to mention it if u r not using web server.

Actually, I think there are a few other programs apart from Tomcat that use JAVA_HOME, but still you'll probably not need it in most cases.
