iTunes will not open???

Hope you can help. I have installed and uninstalled itunes. Microsoft keep
telling me "it is sorry for the incovienance but has to close". The apple
people tell me to uninstall and re-install, but this doesn't work either. I
have windows xp. Can anyone help???
