class works when p is used but not with span

I have a bit of text, and first i would put a class in the p. It worked fine. When I changed the p into a span, the size still worked, but the align stopped working. What can i do about this

HTML and CSS would help.

But I would think the css selectors are not what you want it to be. Or at least you think it would be.
