    Image Map Editors

    Hi,

Are there any image map editors available that are free(ish) and output the
image map as web standard XHTML file?
I want to be able to read the image map file programmaticall y, and it would
    make things a lot easier.

    TIA.

I've used this freeware 'Handy ImageMapper' before, it's easy to use:

Handy Image Mapper lets you easily create and insert image maps into
HTML documents to arrange your web site navigation by means of images.
Different parts of an image can provide links to different destinations.
Handy Image Mapper can map GIF, JPG, PNG AND BMP images and can work
    with any HTML editor.
    * Friendly user interface.
    * Ability to add an unlimited number of image map elements.
    * Rectangular, circular and polygonal region types of map elements.

Handy ImageMapper - download the latest version for Windows XP/Vista/7/8/10 (32-bit and 64-bit). Handy Image Mapper lets you easily create and insert rectangular, circular, and polygonal Image Map. Get Handy ImageMapper old versions and alternatives.

Hmm, that was looking good until I saved the output to the clipboard and
looked at it in notepad. It doesn't produce valid XHTML code (i.e. no
      trailing forward slashes).

Also (unless I missed something), it doesn't appear that you can import a
previously saved image map, ready for tweaking at a later date :(

      Any other programs out there?

I think I've found one, for anyone who is interested. It's called Snowblind
Imagemapic. You can get it here:
