    Using .htaccess

I have never used anything but Apache, but I didn't know that .htaccess was
server-specific. How does Windows do it?

Could you be more specific? Windows is not a web server.

On a slight side-note your newsreader has stripped away the References:
so the thread is a little hard to back-track.

Also on a humorous note, the MS support page repeatedly refers
incorrectly to a ".Htaccess" file, I'm sure we all know what MS meant ;-)

Apache runs on Windows just fine, too.

Since he also didn't have a "Re:" in his subject header but still quoted
Jerry, methinks it's not his news client, but rather some manual
manipulation he did. Knode doesn't strip References headers.
