So I try to download email attachments or programs from the internet and the files are impossible to open, for they are automatically deleted. I have tried in different browsers, different computer sessions/accounts. I also tried stopping avast services, windows defender and windows firewall. Nothing worked. What can the cause of such behavior be? I couldn't start in security mode with network support for it tells me to wait and basically freezes after loading a few dozen services.
Windows keeps deleting all downloads and email attachments

Several things can be happening:
- Sender didn't actually make the attachment (my mom does this quite often)
- Sender's computer has a software program or a virus that is stripping or damageing the file.
- Sender's ISP is stripping the attachments... recomend compressing attachments as ISPs will often strip .exe and other such.
- Somewhere out there a routing system is behaving badly.
- Replace the "Sender" above with "Receiver" and repeat.
- Receiver's IT-Security can also block downloads based on... well.. basically anything they want to filter on.

Well not really. For example, I can«t download PDF files, with invoices from my huge internet/voice/TV provider. Trusted sources, like cnet downloads or twocows also don't work. IE says, file removed because it conteined a virus. Only it does not contain any virus. I can't grasp what in my computer is issuing the command to delete the files to stop it.Comment

Qdakshinamurti:Please re-read my post, esp. #4 and #2-replace sender with receiver."not really"
Just because the source is trusted doesn't mean that there isn't a third party that is injecting crud - it's called the "man-in-the-middle" attack. I had to start digitally signing my email from home because a third-party system that handled the email at some point between my Mom and myself kept adding attchments or would "wrap" my attachments with a virus... even zipped. Now I was a trusted source for my Mom and yet that didn't mean anything to her ISP when my email arrived loaded with virus programs.Comment
