“…Anyway, you can't copy the image as a .gif because it becomes a .bmp file, and no decoding programs I have tried are successfully able to retrieve the image. However, you can retrieve it using MS Word. Here's how:
1) Using Outlook, make sure MS Word is your default mail editor.
(Tools - Options - Mail Format - checkbox under Message Format section)
2) Reply to the email to get it opened in MS Word.
(You must reply or forward to get the embedded image properly selectable)
3) Click on the image once to select it. (The image will no longer appear animated, but that's ok.)”
3a) Double click on the picture to open: Format Picture window.
3b) Go to tab: Lyout => Advanced… => Text Wrapping tab => select wrapping style: ‘In line with text’.
NOTE: Do not select wrapping style ‘In line with text’ from the tab Lyout. Apparently there is a difference between ‘In line with text’ form Lyout tab and Text Wrapping tab.
4) "Drag and drop the image on the desktop, or right-drag and drop on the desktop and choose Create Active Desktop Images Here. (should be the default choice)
5) You will be told a .gif image will need to be created in order to place the active desktop image. Agree and place the image on the desktop, or wherever you want it."
5a) Windows will create the .gif file in one of the subfolder of: C:\WINDOWS\TEMP \....
Location can be checked in the window: right click on the desktop => open properties - Desktop properties window, Desktop tab=>Customize Desktop...=>Des ktop Items window, web tab
6) "You can now rename the image and it will be a proper .gif.”
