What media player will play a G.711 A-law .wav file with a .vox extension?

[Roj Saville]

I am trying to play a G.711 A-law wav file with a vox extension, but can not get the file to open in any player.

VLC plays 1 second of silence. Windows Media and Nero say the file is corrupt. WinAmp skips straight past it as a unrecognised file.

I have tried downloading a VOX player, but it does not recognise the file as it has a .wav file name.

Any ideas on any media players that will support this file type?
