    Cross Platform db Restore

    Hi Everyone,
    Am facing an issue. Am using DB2 UDB EE v8.2 on AIX platform. I have
    taken the offline backup of a db( say SAMPLE ) on AIX platform. Now I
    want to restore the same on Linux platform. In fact on any other
    platform like Win<->UNIX / Win<->LInux / Win<->AIX etc. I have heard
    that DB2 supports cross platform restore operation, but am not sure on
    how to perform. Can anybody pls help me out !

      Possible work around......... ....

      Log on to Linux or Windows box.
      Catalog the remote AIX database. Remote AIX machine must be visable
      on the network.
      Backup the remote AIX database locally i.e. on to the Linux or Windows
      machine.
      Restore the backup to the Windows/Linux machine.

          This will not work. BACKUP requires an instance attachment, and the
          backup is done at the database server, not at the client.

                  Not using BACKUP DATABASE you haven't. Maybe using 'db2look' and/or
                  db2move, but that's not the same thing as a database backup.
