I have DB2 9.1 on Solaris 10.
I am quite new to DB2, please forgive my limited knowledge.
I have a DBM CFG with
Workload impact by throttled utilities(UTIL_ IMPACT_LIM) = 10
I run my ONLINE backup with NO util_impact_pri ority setting.
I am confused by the DB2 9 manual which attempts to distinguish between the
settings:
per this link: "If you do not issue the SET UTIL_IMPACT_PRI ORITY command, the
utility will run unthrottled (irrespective of the setting of util_impact_lim ).
"
1) does this mean that because i am not setting the impact when i issue the
backup command, my DB backup is NOT AT ALL limited by the DBM CFG setting of
10 ? (so it could impact the user experience/performanc if the backup is a
pig?).
2) if i set the util impact to 5 in my backup command, is it getting only 50%
of the 10% allocated to utilities?
3) I have auto_runstats running, how do i tell what util_impact (if any) that
was set to run with?
4) how does the util_impact_lim govern (or not) a backup if it is an OFFLINE
backup? for example, i have an offline backup that is taking 3.5 hours with
2 threads (2 sessions open to netbackup load library) and a not so great
throughput. how can i tell if my thoughput is limited by my 1GB pipe with
netbackup and/or is my backup limited by the DBM cfg util_impact_lim of 10?
