Re: Installation error with DB@ Personal Edition v8.1

Something I noticed in the log file - the first time I install DB2 - I
put in the incorrect username for the datawarehouse. Even though I
uninstalled the program and restarted my machine - then re-installed
DB2 -- AND even though the log date is the correct new install date --
it is still showing the datawarehouse login as the incorrect login -
even though I put in a correct login the second time around.

I went into services and put in the correct login but the services
    still won't start.

I would like to know where this information is hidden on my machine so
this will not happen the next time around.

My operating system is Win XP - Thanks!

well - i want to thank everyone for the prompt replies on my problem
      resolution. <yea right>

i finally figured out that for some reason - the install could not be
done under my domain account and so i created a local account - logged
into that account and installed db2, along with the sample databases.

i restarted my computer and logged back into my domain account - i can
get to the database but have to login in to the databases with the
local account to view anything. i tried to add the domain user thru
'authorities' - but it still gives me an error message.

      again - thanks everyone! <NOT>

I believe that if you go into Widows Services and change the startup owner
of the DB2 processes, then it will work with your domain account. You may
have add your domain account to the DB2 group, but I don't recall if I did
this or not when I had the same problem and got it to work.

Well, I guess you got what you paid for.

If you need urgent support for a problem, use your support contract, not
          a usenet group.

Seriously, though, did you make sure the domain ID you told DB2 to use
meets the requirements (either belongs to *local* administrators group,
OR has the various operating system privileges assigned to it)?

Re: Installation error with DB@ Personal Edition v8.1

in answer to both of your questions:

I went into services and changed it to run under my domain account -
            still did not work.

my domain account has local admin on my computer...but for some reason
i was unable to install DB2 with this account.-- while my office mate
had no problem using his domain account (we are in the same domain)

            Thanks for your replies!
