Brand new PC, installed Windows Ultimate 64bit. Within hours, keybaord and mouse randomly freeze. Only way I can get things working are to boot in safe mode - and then to make the keyboard and mouse work again in normal mode I have found the only thing I can do is to do a reinstall of Windows. I have reinstalled it 3 times already. Keyboard and mouse work until the login screen appears. Help!!

I'd recommend running Windows update to get Windows up-to-date, and then also going to the site of the wireless keyboard/mouse manufacturer and downloading the newest drivers (and making sure this keyboard/mouse are supported on Windows Ultimate 64bit (is this Windows 7? Vista?) -
I have managed to get the keyboard and mouse working again by restoring to a backup that I had made yesterday when I temporarily got them going with an OS reinstall. I am reluctant to install the Windows updates as I am worried this may be the root of my problem. I have searched for driver updates but am struggling to find them (Logic wireless keyboard and mouse package from PC World). Am currently using wired keyboard and mouse and keeping my fingers crossed! It's Windows 7 by the way - think I was half asleep when I posted initially! Thanks for your help.Comment

What leads you to believe the updates are the root of your problem? Did this immediately occur after an update?
Did you check the logs to determine what errors are happening? If you can locate the first error, you can compare that to the updates and narrow down those that are problematic for you.Comment
