You have a point: my newsreader tells me that the OP posted through Google
groups. However, I doubt that the word "This" in Default Users post refers
to the C++ page of Google groups. More likely, it refers to the C++ news
group, which indeed is not a web site but a usenet group.

So? comp.lang.c, where the message was posted, is NOT a web site. The
fact that a particular news service has a web portal with access to the
group (as do a number of others, all with different URLs) changes that
not in the slightest.

criticism was this:

The OP posted through Google groups [this is what my newsreader tells me]
and clearly was on a web-site. That web-site was claimed to be a good place
for C++. That this web-site happens to be an interface to comp.lang.c++
does not change the fact that the OP was on a web-site and that one can
recommend that web-site for learning C++.
