    32 bit IEEE binary number

A friend, thinking that I know something about computers, has posed a challenge problem to me. The problem is to encode -55 23/64ths as a 32bit IEEEE binary number. I don't have to explain how I got the answer, I just need to know the answer. Can anyone help me?

    Thanks!
