    Connection with Oracle database

    hi all

    I am new to oracle and my client needs some work on oracle i have the database in oracle as he provides me now i dont know how to connect the asp.net with the oracle using vb.net. Please help me in this matter as he needs it realy urgent. I only needs the connection string for that. I have no time to read big articles for that so please solve my problem.

      Solution: Don't bid on jobs you're not qualified for; especially *rush* jobs.

      You're joking with this post, right? I mean you didn't really take a paying contract for a client with no idea of how to complete the task, then log on here and ask a community of VOLUNTEERS to solve it for you for free - while admitting that you can't be bothered with reading up on how to actually do the job you're getting paid for. Did you?

      Its no wonder the coding contracts go out of the USA: Unqualified folks such as yourself underbid the people that actually know the answers, then ask the very people that lost out on paycheck to solve it for free.

          Sorry boss you are wrong this time its out side my contract with my client as we both agree with the terms to work on MSSQL but here he needs some quick changes with oracle and he cant aford to manage biding on it although he did this but he ask me to solve this problem. As we work togather for a long time and i told him that its not in my commands to handle oracle but he insisted to work out and try it so thats why i posted that post. So if you know the answer then tell or else please dont dont comment on any one elselike you did on me. And by the way i m doing it with out any payment at all. I am just try to help him out and nothing else.

              so this conversation just shows how to ask questions in a better way ... since it is quite capable of being misunderstood - as it was ... i would suggest to calm down ... and one more note: when your client needs it that urgently and doesn't want to pay for it he cannot expect to have that solved very fast in case you tell him to need some time to gather the relevant information ... in any form ... like asking here or there or even reading a doc ...

                  1.Setting up and testing the Oracle
                  2. Configuring access to Oracle data sources...
                  do get in touch with a DB guy ...

                      Connecting to and using an Oracle Database isn't much different from connecting to and using an MSSql Database.

                      Please look into the OracleConnectio n class....it's really not that much different.

                          Hi maliksleo,
                          If you are taking about connecting to Oracle db from your asp.net app... thats fairly simple ... This article by Frinavale will be a good starting point.
                          You can also look at this by insertAlias.

                          Just replace Sqlconnection with OracleConnectio n ( for command, etc)... and add reference to System.Oracle.C lient...
                          For some reason i thought you were trying to install and configure Oracle DB..
