What does "Set As Default Page" actually do?

    What does "Set As Default Page" actually do?

    When you right click on a page in VS and set it as the "default page" what
    actually takes place? How does the site know to go here first?

      If you are editing some other page and run the project it will start from
      the page set as Start..

        the setting is only for visual studio.
