    Server object error 'ASP 0178 : 80070005'

    Hi

I've been getting this error for the last few days on my Windows 7 machine with IIS7 which is running a small web site written in classic ASP.

    Server object error 'ASP 0178 : 80070005'
    Server.CreateOb ject Access Error /d/site.asp, line 54
The call to Server.CreateOb ject failed while checking permissions.
Access is denied to this object.

I've searched Microsoft and a lot of forum sites for an answer, but so far without any luck. The object to be created is an activeX DLL which holds session state and connects to an Access database.

I have checked all files used by the application and all have the IIS_IUSRS (MachineName\II S_IUSRS) permissions set for at lease read/ write. I have checked the registry entries under HKEY_CLASSES_RO OT in both the Class name and the class clsid which seem to point to the correct locations.

The only thing I have been unable to do is to grant permissions to the folder 'C:\Program Files\Common Files\System' as stated in one of the Microsoft KB's. This is due to there being a Windows7 shield on the properties, dissallowing me from changing anything.

Please offer any advice which would be gratefully accepted.

    Kind regards
    john

Thank you to all the people who read this thread but were unable to help. I have been lucky enough to answer my own problem. About the time that things were going wrong the Internet security package which was preinstalled on the computer advised that the 90 day free use was comming to an end, so I stumped up the money and got the full version, which I could also put on two other machines. This Internet security package then proceeded to cause the web site to block visitors and when I ran from LocalHost it prevented access to the database, although giving the impression from its error codes that it was other maytters.

The software company are currently looking through all the log files my PC produced to try to solve the problem.

    Kind regards
