i am just a newbie in asp world.please tell me how to open an excel workbook using asp and also please tell me what should be the sequence of code while editing html scripts for including asp codes inbetween .

Welcome to Bytes!

It is not easy to understand exactly what you need to do with Excel from what you have posted.

I will handle your questions in reverse order though, since it appears that you have not yet learned the fundamental principles involved.

First learn ASP (VB Script is the ASP language most of us use) and how to embed it into HTML markup:

www.w3schools.com is a very good starting point. I'm not sure if you mean ASP.Net when you say ASP, they are different, but clicking the relevant link on that site will see you straight.

To open a workbook from ASP and do what you like with it, you should first learn the principles of the ASP language you choose. When you're done with that do a Google search for "Excel.Applicat ion ASP" and that should probably churn up a quick tutorial or two somewhere in the listings.
