AUTH_USER in ASP

Hi Friends,

I am having an asp application in which i am capturing the Auth_User for authentication.
My problem is when i am trying to turn off the anonymous access tab in the properties window.I am unable to even Run th local host in my machine.
If I turn on the anonymous access check box i am able to run the local host but could not capture the AUTH_USER.as i am getting a empty string for that


Any body Please help me if you know the solution

I for one would suggest coming up with a different way of authentication. AUTH_USER is very easily spoofed. Just within FireFox I can pass in someone else credentials and impersonate them. And with IE7+ Microsoft’s new security features you will find yourself becoming tech support in figuring out why some people can connect and others can’t when using IE7+. I could go on but I think your getting my point.

Back in the day AUTH_USER was helpful but, now it has become unreliable.
