    Form Buttons not rendering properly

    I'm wondering if anyone has come across this and, if so, can it be fixed. It's more of an annoyance than anything but it really bothers me.

    The general gist is that the form buttons don't render correctly on the screen if I have the .UseTheme property = true.

    I'm using the following setup:
    Access 2013
    Windows 8
    MS Surface PRO
    Tags: None

      I had attached pics but apparently they didn't upload. They are .jpg, but the system is saying it's not a valid format...

          There are size limits to all uploaded files. Did you check these weren't exceeded and the files were actually accepted?

              Form Buttons not rendering properly

              I've asked this before, I know, but I couldn't get an image to upload and now I can't seem to edit my earlier post so here we go again.

              The issue is that buttons don't render properly when the .UseTheme property is set to true.

              The attached image shows two buttons with identical properties, except the top button has .UseTheme=true. The areas outside the yellow outline are not clickable, but they are always painted on the screen regardless of what view I use.


              I'm using:
              Windows 8
              MS Access 13
              MS Surface Pro

                  There is a time limit on the editing messages.

                  Reduce the size of your button to match the clickable area, use text, use text and image, or use a larger image. It is a defect in Windows8 Themes that the clickable area is the size of the image used for the button - Welcome to Windows8-Access2013-Hell. One of the many reasons my IT has refused to move any of the infrastructure over to the Windows8 platform.
                  We don't need pretty buttons with 24/7 facebook and ebay realtime updates, we need to be able to use our Databases, Workbooks, and instrumentation interfaces! I think they listened too much to the Teeny-boppers and not enough to the business professionals.

                      All of what you say is true, but it's frustrating that they worked on Windows 7 and Acess 2010.

                      In any case, I've tried everything. If it's a defect, so be it. It's not a major issue.

                          I could write 6 pages of rant about this; however, the W8 and V2013 have made some assumptions about how things would be used and in doing so have tried to leverage the inhouse code (think about a webpage, how many times have you tried to click on an icon and it only works in a small area) and new hardware without any way to perform good bench testing. Touch screens are just now being introduced as standard on desktops and laptops... and I think that was forced by W8.

                          Hopefully the new servicepak will fix some of this junk.

                              And by extension, W8 was forced by iOS...

                              So far, I've had few problems with Windows 8 and the touchscreen tech, so I won't complain.
