Date Last Modified for each field in a record?

Is there a way to track the date_modified for each individual field in a record? I'm currently tracking the date that each record was last modified, but wanting to get more specific details to see what was modified on that date.

I've searched the web and haven't found a solution to this, but wanted to check with this group before I assume that it's just not possible.

You could have a history table with specific fields that you want to monitor changes along with a field date for the modified date.
All you need is a query that would insert the data in the history table when some target fields are modified in the table you want to track.

I am sure I have seen something about this on this forum.

As you thought, there is no built-in way to track modifications to field contents in general. However, from Access 2007 onwards Access has had a built-in feature to be able to track revisions to memo fields.

If it is not changes to memo fields you are thinking of it is possible to develop bespoke logging in VBA, by (for example)using the After Update events of the controls concerned to trigger a log entry recording the old value of the control along with the new value, but this will be a fair amount of work to implement. Unless there are very special circumstances I think the effort to implement may outweigh the benefits gained.

If not, perhaps the memo revision tracking of Access 2007/2010 will be suitable for your needs as it stands?
